Distinguish waiting, payment and vehicle areas
A customer waiting area, payment queue, vacuum space and staff break spot have different coverage and clearance needs. Mark the operating lanes and occupied hours rather than asking for a canopy over an unspecified rectangle.
Vehicle movements, door opening, drainage and equipment access should inform the support positions. Existing machinery or frames require review with the relevant equipment/structural teams before they are used as shade anchors.

Match coverage to the activity
| Area or use | Information to show | Decision to review |
|---|---|---|
| Customer waiting | Seats and occupied periods | Useful shade and circulation |
| Vehicle/queue areas | Lane and equipment envelope | Assessed frame/support interfaces |
| Staff rest | Actual break-area use | Access and cleaning exposure |

Discuss cleaning exposure and closures
The selected fabric and finish should be reviewed against wet conditions, cleaning chemicals and normal maintenance. Ask how panels and connections can be reached and which areas close during foundation or installation work. The scope should identify restoration and owner-supplied tasks.

Clear answers
Questions before the next step.
Can an existing installation be improved?
The provider publishes repair, replacement and suitable existing-structure improvements. A condition and coverage review should determine the appropriate scope.
Can shade panels be integrated with a suitable frame?
That is within the provider’s published product range, but frame condition and attachment details need assessment. The Dutch Bros gallery reference illustrates a panel system, not a standard car-wash specification.
Is a panel automatically waterproof?
No. The selected textile and installed assembly determine rain behavior; a frame alone does not establish weatherproof coverage.
