Custom Residential Shade Sails & Patio Shade

Make the outdoor space useful at the hours you want to use it. Plan a custom sail or permanent shade structure around the patio, seating, pool edge and architecture.

Start with the part of the property you want to use

A patio can be comfortable in the morning and exposed during the afternoon. Identify the occupied seats, dining table or gathering area and the hours that matter. The shade footprint moves; choosing a fabric size alone does not establish useful coverage.

Share the project address, ground-level photos and an approximate layout. Include nearby buildings, trees, doors and the furniture you want to retain. SHADE Industries can confirm project fit, service availability and the site information needed for the next step.

Compare sails, panels and permanent umbrellas

A tensioned sail can work with a custom arrangement of suitable supports. A fitted shade panel uses a compatible frame or rail. A permanent GORILLABrella creates a more concentrated canopy around a center post or cantilevered support.

Compare those options on the same seating and circulation plan. A post that interrupts a doorway or pool route can be a poor fit even if the canopy looks attractive. Patio and courtyard examples are useful references, but your property needs its own layout and supporting design.

Coordinate attachments, foundations and approvals

An existing house wall, fence or pergola should not be treated as an anchor without assessment. Wind and fabric tension transfer loads into the supporting system. Building connections, foundations and available pole positions need to be considered together.

Raise HOA, owner and local approval requirements early. Ask who handles drawings, structural review, permits and restoration of paving or landscaping. State whether the project needs breathable sun shade or a suitable waterproof assembly; ordinary porous HDPE is not a waterproof roof.

A custom project, not a retail fabric purchase

SHADE Industries publishes typical shade-sail project starting budgets around $15,000-$20,000. A residential estimate depends on the proposed system and property work, not a cloth-only price. Replacement, repair and supply-only work have their own scope.

You do not need final dimensions or a chosen fabric before making an inquiry. Provide the location and coverage objective so the team can identify the appropriate survey and design steps. Agree any charge for detailed design before commissioning it.

Improve or replace an existing sail

If the panel is faded, damaged or repeatedly sagging, explain the symptom and previous work. A replacement assessment considers the fabric, anchors and supporting condition. If the sail is sound but shades the wrong place, a layout improvement may be more useful than another identical panel.

Do not climb, retension an unknown structure or improvise another attachment while waiting. Use the estimate form to share safe photographs and relevant existing drawings. Removal and reinstatement can be part of an assessed repair or replacement proposal.

Information to include with your request

The more useful information is about the site and intended use, not a guessed final sail dimension.

  • Project address and any HOA or owner approval requirements.
  • Seating, dining or pool-deck area you want shaded and the occupied hours.
  • Existing structures, proposed supports and safe ground-level photographs.
  • Whether the inquiry is for new construction, replacement, repair or a supply package.
  • Any plans and the approximate budget or desired project timing.

Clear answers

Questions before the next step.

Does SHADE Industries work with homeowners?

Yes. SHADE Industries publishes homeowner services alongside its commercial work. Send the address and proposed scope so the team can confirm project fit and service availability.

Can a shade sail attach to my house?

Sometimes, but the building and connection need assessment. A wall that was not designed for shade-sail loads may require a different support or engineered connection. Do not choose attachments only from appearance.

Can you cover an existing patio or pool seating area?

The team can review the occupied area, useful shade hours, circulation and feasible support locations. Pool coverage does not replace supervision or the property’s safety requirements.

Can I order fabric and arrange installation separately?

SHADE Industries offers custom tops and suitable supply packages. Confirm the drawings, supporting system, measurements, installation responsibilities and any supervision needed before fabrication.

Do I need plans before requesting an estimate?

No. Start with the property address, what needs shade and safe photographs if available. Existing plans can help, but final measurements and design requirements are established for the assessed project.
